Exploring the Integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Social Work Practice: A Research Invitation

University of Birmingham is conducting a research study on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in social work practice, and are looking for volunteers to participate


Research Topic? The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Social Work Practice, specifically:

•The extent and usage of AI usage in social work practice.

•Practitioners understanding of the ethical implications of AI use, including data privacy and algorithmic bias.

•Which aspects of social work practice practitioners think a Gen AI tool could effectively support them to carry out.


Who Can Participate? You must be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England who has previously used at least one AI tool in your social work practice to participate in this research.


How to Participate? Complete a brief online survey which should take no more than 15 minutes. At the end of the survey, you will also have the option to volunteer to participate in a follow-up group interview (lasting approximately 1 hour) should you wish to.
