Implementing NICE guidelines in social care: Insights for local authorities.

This event is open to everyone, so please share this invite widely within your organisations and networks.

In 2014, the first guidance on social care was introduced by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to ensure consistent, efficient and evidence-based delivery of care. While these guidelines are a useful framework for outlining best practice, little is known about their implementation on-the-ground, challenges, and what is needed to ensure they are adhered to.

In this engaging virtual roundtable hosted by the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Lambeth Health Determinants Research and Evaluation Network (HEART), we will be sharing the findings of a recent study, ‘Valuing Care Guidance’. This project looked at how NICE guidelines were being implemented in three local authorities. Speakers from local authorities as well as from NICE will talk about their perspective on guidance implementation, relevance to local authorities, challenges and opportunities.
