About the Event

Session Overview:

Shaz Nour is a newly qualified social worker with lived-experience of forced marriage and “so-called” honour-based violence and abuse . In this interactive session she aims to raise social workers' awareness of forced marriage and ‘honour’ based abuse existing within BME communities living in the UK, and to ‘spot the signs’ when working with victims or potential victims of forced marriage and ‘honour’ based abuse.  She also aims to enhance social workers' knowledge regarding the legislative protection available for victims, and encourages reflection on how individual social workers and teams can respond to the arising issues.
