About the Event

This research seminar is open to members of the West Midlands Social Work Teaching Partnership. Please see below our Partner organisations.

Disabled people are more than twice as likely to be subjected to domestic violence and abuse (DVA) than non-disabled people (ONS, 2020). Yet, nationally, referral rates to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) from Adult Social Care continue to be low (SafeLives, 2022). In this session, Sandra will share her findings from a recent evaluation undertaken within one of Coventry City Council’s Adult Social Care Service. The research evaluation focused on the adult social care response to disabled people subjected to domestic violence and abuse. The evaluation was undertaken as part of the fulfilment of her Professional Doctorate evaluation module. The seminar will cover:

· Current literature regarding disabled people subjected to DVA

· Research Methodology

· Research findings and recommendations
