About the Event

Open to all social work practitioners across Adult and Children's Services within the West Midlands Social Work Teaching Partnership. Please see our Partner organisations below.

Session overview:  This session aims to explore the opportunities and pathways for social care practitioners to get involved in research, both in terms of the specialist contributions they can make and the space for personal development that they can explore.

The session aims to cover:

- Opportunities for involvement in research and research activity

- Awareness of available funding streams and support systems that practitioners can access for involvement in research

- The value of practitioner involvement in research at an individual, organisational and structural level

- Potential barriers and challenges to overcome to enable practitioner involvement in research

Facilitator: Laura Tucker is a mental health and social care researcher at the University of York, with research interest in professional social work roles and mental health need and support in marginalised and excluded communities.  She is a qualified social worker and came into research from practice, with fifteen years experience in the voluntary and statutory sectors.

Please note, your space will not be confirmed until a member of the Programme Team will be in touch to confirm the status of your booking, i.e. if you have secured a space or if you will be placed on the waiting list
