Session overview: This session will cover care leavers and what different housing options they might have when they leave care, we will touch on the importance of preparation and planning with young people and their carers/families.
You will learn about the basics regarding Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996, which covers the allocation of social housing, and also the private rented sector and supported accommodation options.
We will also cover Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, which covers homelessness. There are specific areas of the legislation which apply to care leavers and are useful to be aware of.
