Upcoming event: Reforming the Child Protection System: Parents and their Allies Together

25 February 2020

This event is now fully booked, thanks to all who have kindly booked on. We look forward to seeing you on the day and sharing conversations around how we can take parent partnerships forwards in our region and beyond. We are trying to ensure the event can be livestreamed.

The speaker line up has now been confirmed and includes:

  • Hope Newton (Rise Magazine, New York)

  • Professor Andy Bilson (Emeritus Professor of Social Work, University of Central Lancashire)

  • Southwark Parents Panel

  • ATD Fourth World

  • Camden Family Group Conferencing

It is important to remember that this event will launch a new and innovative parent partnership project for families involved with our West Midlands child protection systems. Thus, we are actively looking for local authorities and trusts to agree to jointly take the agenda forward with us and parents, to act as trailblazers in the region. They will be supported and have the opportunity to pioneer a new approach to child protection within our region. Could this be you and your organisation? If so do make contact with me (s.p.c.haworth@bham.ac.uk).

We have already started to hold some very positive and constructive conversations with people in our region and there seem to be some great foundations to build upon to develop more collective and compassionate approaches to child protection within the West Midlands.
